Genevieve Lalonde

Geneviève Lalonde is a Canadian track and field athlete specializing in the steeplechase – a 3,000m race that has 28 barriers and 7 water jumps. She is one of Canada’s best track and field athletes, having broken the Canadian record in the 3000m steeplechase on May 28, 2016, running 9:32.17 in Eugene, Oregon. She then broke the Canadian record — her own time! — again in 2019 when she ran a 9:29:82. In addition to the Canadian record, Gen still holds the Canadian junior record from 2010’s World Junior Championships which took place in her hometown of Moncton. She enjoyed a breakout season in 2015 when she won bronze in the steeplechase at the Pan Am Games in Toronto and made her IAAF World Championship debut in Beijing. Gen made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016, where Canada entered the women’s 3000m steeplechase for the first time at the Games.
